Case Report Submission for CHEST 2008
It’s Free. It’s Easy.
Case report submission for CHEST 2008 is FREE.
Using the program, you can create a username and password, enter your case report, save it, and return to it from anywhere you have Internet access. You can edit or update your case report at any time before the deadline by returning to the Web site, logging in, and clicking on the Review and Update My Submissions button. Your final submission must be made on or before April 30, 2008, 1:00 pm (CT).
Electronic confirmation of your agreement with the Case Report Author Agreement must accompany your submission. Among other things, this agreement requires that, for abstracts relating to human research, investigational protocols must be reviewed and approved by a formally constituted institutional review board for human studies.
For the best results, use Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Program enhancements may not be available if a lower version of Netscape or Internet Explorer is used.
After the submission deadline, all completed case reports will be sent to the ACCP Affiliate Committee for review. Any case reports left incomplete will not be sent for review. We encourage you to print a copy of your case report for your review. The last day to change or withdraw your accepted case report is August 1, 2008. To withdraw your accepted case report, e-mail Lisa Roeber at lroeber@chestnet.org. Please include your case report control number.

Case Report Submission Guidelines
Submit case reports electronically at www.chestnet.org. All case reports must comply with the following guidelines in order to be considered for acceptance at CHEST 2008:
- The primary/presenting author must be an Affiliate Member of the ACCP when the case report is submitted. For information on membership and application forms, go to www.chestnet.org/membership/join/affiliate.php, or contact ACCP Membership at (847) 498-8359 or cvock@chestnet.org. Membership applications will be accepted up to 1 week before the case report submission deadline.
- When submitting a case report, please exclude all identifying patient information.
- If submitting multiple case reports, please note only one case report can be accepted and presented by each author.
- Case reports must be submitted and presented in English.
- Material submitted must be original and may not be presented or published elsewhere in abstract form prior to October 30, 2008.
- The case report must be titled. The title should clearly define the topic and contain no abbreviations. Author names are not allowed in the title of the case report; author names should be entered in the designated author information area.
- The body of the case report must contain five separate parts: introduction, case presentation, discussion, conclusion, and references (optional).
- The total word count may not exceed 600 words. Only two references will be permitted. References are included in the word count.
- Disclosure information must be provided. If you have nothing to disclose, indicate this by checking the appropriate box. Failure to disclose grant support or funding will disqualify a case report.
- Standard abbreviations may be used in the text of the case report. On first use, spell out the full term and follow with the abbreviation in parentheses.
- The Affiliate Committee selects case reports for presentation based on originality, well-defined pathophysiology, clinical relevance, and differential diagnosis of each case.
- Accepted case reports will be presented at CHEST 2008. Presentations should be well-documented and include radiographs, pathologic specimens, and laboratory values, as appropriate.
- Affiliate Members of the ACCP who are attending the ACCP Fellows Conferences at CHEST 2008 are urged to participate. Submission of case reports is a special opportunity for fellows to have their cases presented at CHEST 2008.
- Commercial logos are prohibited from appearing on case report slide presentations.
Notification of acceptance or rejection of case reports will be made electronically to the presenting author after July 7, 2008. If you have not been notified by July 18, 2008, please contact the ACCP.
If you do not respond to the ACCP by August 1, 2008, stating your acceptance or decline to present at CHEST 2008, your case report will automatically be removed.

A $100 cash award will be given by the ACCP for the best presentation in each case report session at CHEST 2008.
Three awards from the American Association for Bronchology (AAB) will be presented for outstanding case reports pertaining to interventional pulmonology. The award for each recipient will be $100 cash, plus a 1-year paid membership in the AAB. |
