Welcome to San Diego!

On behalf of the CHEST 2009 Program Committee and the ACCP leadership and staff, we welcome you to CHEST 2009. The ACCP Program Committee, NetWorks, and members-at-large have shaped a world-class educational program with many exciting innovations to better integrate your learning opportunities.

CHEST 2009 has evolved from a lecture-only format to one of attendee participation to maximize your educational impact and value. It will again feature the ACCP Simulation Center, where you can practice patient care in a hands-on, clinical environment. Solve unusual or difficult-to-manage cases with input from a panel of experts during interactive clinical case puzzlers. Participate in newly offered problem-based learning sessions. Discuss cases based on ACCP evidence-based guidelines, with input from multidisciplinary moderators and other clinicians.

A focus of the meeting is the emerging field of telemedicine, with tele-ICU and home-based chronic health management as a focus. Don’t miss the keynote address on Monday, November 2, when Jay H. Sanders, MD, President and CEO of The Global Telemedicine Group, presents an analysis of how telecommunication and information technologies can dramatically improve the process and outcome of health-care delivery.

Continue your education experience in the all-new exhibit hall, renamed the Clinical Resource Center and redesigned to offer a richer, more valuable education opportunity. The center complements the sessions by focusing on diagnostic and treatment solutions. Relevant, often hands-on, education opportunities are presented at individual booths. Also, visit Experience ACCP in the Clinical Resource Center. Experience ACCP features additional resources to further your skills, including innovations and essential resources related to advancing patient care and practice management.

Join the fun as the ACCP begins a yearlong celebration of its 75th anniversary. Look for your special commemorative edition of CHEST, featuring the top 12 seminal studies published. Check out the ACCP historical display to bone-up on ACCP history, then see how much you know during a special ACCP trivia round of questions during the CHEST Challenge Championship.

Set in the beautiful city of San Diego, CHEST 2009 promises to be a unique and memorable educational, professional, and social experience. We are glad you are here.
