Not only do physicians have a strong interest in engaging in public sector advocacy on behalf of their patients, but they also have a professional obligation to do so. Despite this interest, physician involvement in health-related advocacy in the public arena remains low. This free, 45-minute podcast, in which ACCP leaders serve as faculty, educates domestic ACCP members and their staff regarding the growing critical care workforce shortage—a legislative priority for chest medicine—and how this shortage interfaces with health system reform. Learners will receive the necessary expertise, skills, and tools to advocate with confidence for legislation to address the critical care workforce crisis.
