Ambassadors Group And AMA Alliance Partnership

Ambassadors Group and AMA Alliance Form New Partnership To Support Lung Health and Rally Against Smoking in PG-Rated Movies

Since many Ambassadors Group members go into their local schools to teach The CHEST Foundation’s Lung LessonsSM program, the opportunity to feature their efforts with the AMA Alliance Screen Out! Program, in which AMA Alliance members were also involved in tobacco prevention, was a perfect match. The AMA Alliance is the largest volunteer arm of the American Medical Association. Members of the Ambassadors Group were involved in the production of the DVD, Lung LessonsSM: A Presenter’s Guide, that provides tobacco prevention education content and teaching tips to use with elementary schoolchildren. This DVD is now featured on AMA Alliance’s Web site.

The AMA Alliance Screen Out! Program involves the efforts of AMA Alliance members in their local communities to get petitions signed and to write letters to movie producers asking them to eliminate smoking in their PG-rated films. The intent is to have any movies that feature smoking to be rated R, since children are heavily influenced to start smoking when they see movie stars smoke on screen. Further details on this program are available. Click on “Screen Out,” listed on the left side of the screen.
