CHEST Procedure Videos Online

In case you missed it...

New from the December issue, CHEST introduced the series, Procedure Videos Online, featuring a full 17 minutes of narrated video footage accompanied by a traditional written article. The first video in the series, “Whole-Lung Lavage for Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis,” traces this procedure from the patient selection process through postprocedure follow-up, touching on potential complications along the way. Viewers can watch the entire video at once or navigate to specific sections.

In their kick-off editorial, “A Video Says More Than a Thousand Words,” Section Editors, Armin Ernst, MD, FCCP and Gaetane Michaud, MD, FCCP write:

“The last 10 years have seen the development and introduction of many new interventions for clinical use by the pulmonologist. Traditionally, most journals have relied on the written word to describe the performance of many interventions; but as we all know, when it comes to hands-on training… seeing an intervention actually performed by an expert is generally perceived as much more instructive than reading a description can ever be.”
