More info on physicians and social media, blogs, apps, and devices

So I was having a nice Hendricks martini with my pal Dr. Jasper McSnasper the other night and he asked me what blogs I was working on. When I told him it was a compilation of some medical blogs discussing the pros and cons of physicians using social media and some reviews of new devices and medical related apps, he rolled his eyes.
“Fer cryin’ out loud, how many times are you going back to that well?”

To be honest, I hadn’t really thought of the multiple posts I’ve made about social media being “going back to the well.” I pointed out that it wasn’t just going to the same well. The rules, tools, and tenets of information seeking, creation, and sharing are constantly evolving, and the use of tools that provide ways to manage information are changing rapidly due to a number of factors, including new tools, improvements in existing tools, launch of new devices like the iPad, and the incredible shift to mobile devices and apps, as opposed to traditional desktop browser. For a great post on this shift, check out Kent Anderson’s blog on the Scholarly Kitchen:

The bottom line is that the game is changing and evolving. Here ‘s a list of some recent medical blog posts about social media, information sharing, and physician use of various tools and devices. I think you’ll find many of them valuable and thought provoking.

Also, if you want to revisit my previous blog posts about social media, take a look at the list over on the right hand side of this page – it shows previous installments of “It Ain’t Rocket Surgery” that deal with similar topics.

And now, this installment’s list:

Medical Blogs

I honestly think that this little fusion of medical knowledge and social media is going to grow exponentially and why not? This is totally a revolution for all of us to be able to participate and understand new fields that would otherwise be impossible. THanks for this blog post... it's really neat.
