ACCP Certificate of Completion Critical Care Ultrasonography ProgramAdvance your critical care ultrasonography competence with this all-new program for intensivists seeking structured training. Take this course and meet one of the six program requirements. |
Focused Pleural and Vascular Ultrasound
ACCP Simulation Center for Advanced Clinical Education
September 20-21, 2012
Wheeling, IL
The course is designed to familiarize the frontline intensivist with thoracic and vascular ultrasonography for diagnosis and management of the critically ill patient. The course is a part of the ACCP certificate of completion program. It is also designed to meet the needs of program directors in reference to the recent American Board of Internal Medicine guidelines requiring that fellowship training include ultrasound guidance of pleural and vascular access. The course focuses on training using human models and vascular ultrasound task trainers, as well as comprehensive training in image interpretation.
The course will focus on the use of ultrasonography for procedural guidance. Attendees should have knowledge of the mechanical aspects of pleural and vascular access. It will not specifically cover indications for access, selection or use of hardware, or detailed mechanics of device insertion. The course is designed for clinicians who already have strong working knowledge of these matters.
Two weeks before the course, all learners will receive an e-mail with a list of required reading comprising four key articles. These will form the cognitive base of the course. Learners will be expected to have complete mastery of the material at the time of the course start. This reduces the need for lectures during the course, so the focus can be on hands-on training.
