The Make the Choice: Tobacco or Health? speakers kit was created by the Women’s Health NetWork of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and The CHEST Foundation as a way to help health-care professionals and community members persuade women, teens, and adolescents to say no to tobacco.
The initial kit was one of the first major initiatives of the original Task Force on Women & Girls, Tobacco, & Lung Cancer, which was founded in 1996 to publicize lung cancer as a women's disease, motivate women and girls to stop smoking and other tobacco use, and prevent women and girls from starting to use tobacco. The Task Force remains a vital aspect of the work of the Women’s Health NetWork.
With funding support from Pfizer Inc. and the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Chicago Asthma Consortium, the Make the Choice: Tobacco or Health? is The CHEST Foundation's fourth edition of the original Task Force on Women & Girls, Tobacco, & Lung Cancer Speaker's Kit.
The Women’s Health NetWork is one of 26 specialty NetWorks of the ACCP. It seeks to educate the ACCP membership and the general public about women’s chest medicine health issues, especially those related to the use of tobacco products.
