Foreign Visitor Alert
For ACCP Members and meeting participants who are traveling into the United States to attend an ACCP function or educational program, please note the requirements for persons who are required to have visa's.
At this time, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a high-tech registration system in place, to fingerprint and photograph foreign visitors who are required to have visas as they enter through designated US airports and seaports. Visitors with visas will be photographed and have their index fingers electronically fingerprinted or verified upon entering or exiting the US. Beginning September 30, 2004 visitors to the United States from countries that participate in the Visa Waiver Program must enroll in the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology program at all airports and seaports. This means that even those international visitors who aren't required to have visas will have their two index fingers scanned by an inkless device upon arrival and have a digital photograph taken. These travelers had been exempt from this process when it was launched in January.
In addition, 11 airports and two seaports were added, where exit procedures are required for foreign visitors. Visitors must, in effect, check out of the country at self-service workstation by scanning travel documents and going through another inkless finger scan. Failure to complete the exit procedure may be denied visas for future visits to the United States.
