Long-term Facility Selection

Selection of a site for long-term ventilatory support must take into consideration anatomic, physiologic, and developmental differences of children as compared with adults.

Long-term ventilatory support for infants and young children is directed toward optimizing (1) quality of life, (2) rehabilitation potential, and (3) the child's growth and development.
