Frequently Offered to Questionnaire Participants*
- Observe for several hours, repeat a chest radiograph, and discharge home with close follow-up if the pneumothorax is stable or improving
- Admit to the hospital and observe
- Aspirate with a small percutaneous catheter (<14F), remove the catheter, repeat a chest radiograph, observe for several hours and send home with close follow-up
- Aspirate with a small percutaneous catheter (<14 F), remove the catheter, repeat a chest radiograph, and admit to the hospital
- Aspirate with a small percutaneous catheter (<14 F), attach to a one way valve device (e.g., Heimlich valve), repeat a chest radiograph, and send home with close follow-up
- Aspirate with a small percutaneous catheter (<14 F), attach to a one way valve device (e.g., Heimlich valve), repeat a chest radiograph, watch overnight in hospital and send home with close follow-up
- Place a chest tube (any size) and admit to the hospital
- Proceed to thoracoscopy during this hospitalization
