Education Committee

The ACCP Education Committee advises on and reviews the development of all educational courses and course materials, and in the selection of faculties for courses offered by the College. The goals of the Education Committee are:

  1. Develop and implement ACCP programs and enduring products that are determined by the Education Committee to fulfill the educational needs of ACCP members.
  2. Develop strategic partnerships for education between the ACCP and other groups.
  3. Maintain and develop a professional staff to accommodate new projects and technological initiatives.

The Education Committee reviews all educational project proposals before making a recommendation for approval by assessing the following six areas:

  • Educational program proposal application forms are complete.
  • International applications have approval of the ACCP Governor within the proposed region.
  • Identified learning needs of the program fulfill educational goals of the Education Committee as indicated in the Education Committee Model Educational Content Outline.
  • Meet ACCP's core mission and educational mission statements.
  • Meet the current and projected educational needs of the ACCP members:
    1. physician's time;
    2. adoption of technology;
    3. financial considerations;
    4. and evidence-based medicine.
  • Meet financial goals as determined for the fiscal year.

Additional actions of the Education Committee include but are not limited to:

  • Modifications of content and/or faculty.
  • Change in frequency of reoccurring courses and/or their meeting sites.
  • Placing the program on probation with specific criteria for continuation.
  • Termination of a program.
  • Determination that chapter programs are not in conflict with ACCP activities and, if possible, complements them.

Composition of the Education Committee includes 12 members and a chair. Each committee member serves for a term of one year and is eligible for reappointment up to a maximum of three additional one-year terms. The Chair serves a one-year term independent from any term served as a member of the committee, and is eligible for reappointment as Chair for one additional one-year term. The Chair is appointed from among either present or former committee members.
