Educational Program Proposal
The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) is a multidisciplinary
society of over 15,000 members consisting of physicians in pulmonary
medicine, critical care, cardiology, cardiac and thoracic surgery,
and related disciplines. The members also include allied health
professionals.
A popular request is for the ACCP to assist in the development
and recognition of educational programs and products. This guide
outlines the steps that must be followed in order for ACCP to act
upon a request, as well as available resources to assist the application
process.
The ACCP Continuing Education Committee (CEC) reviews
all educational project proposals before making a recommendation
for approval by assessing the following six areas:
- Educational program proposal application forms are complete.
- International applications have approval of the ACCP Governor
within the proposed region.
- Identified learning needs of the program fulfill educational
goals of the CEC as indicated in the CEC Model Educational Content
Outline.
- Meet ACCP's core mission and educational mission statements.
- Meet the current and projected educational needs of the ACCP
members:
- physician's time;
- adoption of technology;
- financial considerations;
- and evidence-based medicine.
- Meet financial goals as determined for the fiscal year.
