ACCP-SI INITIATIVES
Regional Sleep Programs
Building upon the success of last year’s programs, The ACCP-Sleep Institute (ACCP-SI) continues its efforts to educate the broader medical community. Course objectives aim to educate this primary care community about diagnosing, treatment, and appropriate referrals for patients suffering from common sleep disorders. From April through December 2008, programs are scheduled at twenty different sleep centers/hospitals throughout the United States.
The Sleep Educator
The ACCP-SI is currently working with a group of diverse organizations to further develop and define the concept of a sleep educator. Modeled after the very successful diabetes and asthma educators, the sleep educator will be able to provide education, cohesion, and continuity of care for patients with sleep disorders.
National Sleep Awareness Roundtable
The ACCP-SI is a founding member of the National Sleep Awareness Roundtable (NSART), a public and private coalition. Goals of the NSART include raising awareness and increasing understanding of the importance of sleep health. NSART also works to reduce the public health impact that is associated with sleep deprivation and sleep disorders.
