NOVEMBER IS LUNG CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Great American Smokeout – November 19, 2009

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, with approximately 90% of cases related to active smoking. The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and The CHEST Foundation are committed to fighting lung cancer through research, advocacy, and both physician and patient education.

ACCP is a 17,600-member international medical specialty society. Its mission is to promote the prevention and treatment of diseases of the chest though leadership, education, research, and communication. Together with The CHEST Foundation, its philanthropic arm, the ACCP continues to be a leading resource for the improvement in cardiopulmonary health and critical care worldwide.

The ACCP and The CHEST Foundation urges you to observe Lung Cancer Awareness Month by joining in the fight against lung cancer and smoking. Participate in the American Cancer Society’s annual Great American Smokeout and learn ways to help promote tobacco prevention and lung health by visiting our many resources listed at left.
