Requirements for International Fellow (FCCP)

  • Candidates for Fellow (FCCP) may be granted only to specialists (consultants) recognized in their community in disciplines related to the function and diseases of the chest and must devote the major portion of their practice to this specialty.

  • Candidates for Fellowship must be a graduate of an approved medical institution and certified in their specialty by a qualified examining body in their country. The examining body or bodies must be comparable to those required for Fellowship in the American College of Chest Physicians and must be considered acceptable by recognized specialists in the candidate’s country.

  • If a qualifying specialty board certification examination is not available, a minimum of 6 1/2 years of practice experience is required after completion of the candidate's subspecialty training.

  • Candidates for Fellowship must be sponsored by two members of the ACCP, preferably Fellows, in their country, who will be contacted for endorsements. To apply online, sponsor email address are required.

  • Candidates who are not physicians shall hold a doctoral degree from an accredited graduate institution. Such degrees would include, but not be limited to, PhD. PharmD, and DNSc. The candidate shall have expertise satisfactory to the ACCP Credentials Committee and work a major portion of time in a discipline related to cardiopulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, or surgery. Subsequent to completion of formal training, the candidate shall have had at least 3 years of applied experience in the discipline.

  • You may begin to use the designation "FCCP" after receiving notification of your election to Fellowship in the ACCP.   Fellowship is acknowledged by a formal certificate of Fellowship.

Information About e-Membership

E-Membership brings you most ACCP communications electronically, including the CHEST journal. E-members will not receive the printed versions of the CHEST journal or other ACCP publications in the mail.

  • e-members pay lower e-Membership dues instead of $174 per year. This e-member dues rate is based on the World Bank Classification of Gross National Income and will vary by country. (See ACCP e-Dues by Country).
  • an e-newsletter will keep e-members informed about ACCP educational programs and other offerings with direct links to our Web site.

As an e-member, you will receive the same educational discounts and other membership benefits as always. Please see the list of International e-Membership Benefits. You remain a full ACCP Fellow or Member.

Pricing

International Fellow: $174/year
International Fellow (e-Membership): e-Membership dues by country

There is a one-time initiation/application fee of $50 for all those applying to Fellow or Member. This fee is in addition to the annual dues.

The cost of International membership, including the College journal, CHEST, is less than the cost of a subscription to CHEST.
