Reasons to Join
February 2007
I would like to tell you how much I enjoy being a member of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). I have been a Physician Assistant (PA) for 20 years. My entire career has involved caring for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases. My practice involves direct patient care of individuals with lung malignancies and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I have had the honor to work with many member physicians from ACCP over the years. After thinking about joining the ACCP as an Allied Health member, I attended my first CHEST meeting in Seattle, WA, in 2004. I found it to be informative, timely, and just plain fun! Because of this experience, I also attended CHEST 2005 in Montreal. I had high expectations because of my first experience, and, I'm happy to say, I wasn't disappointed. I particularly enjoyed the multidisciplinary team approach to disease management that I so often heard mentioned. In 2006 I was appointed to the Marketing committee which provides an opportunity for me to share my voice and opinions on ACCP planning projects. It has become obvious to me that other member physicians share the same ideals that my colleagues at Mayo Clinic share. I truly believe the ACCP believes in a team approach to health care and values all members.
I look forward to a long and enjoyable membership in the American College of Chest Physicians. I hope that the ACCP will continue to seek out and recruit other PAs to become members. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
W. Paul Holland, PA-C
