Allied Health NetWork
Reasons to Join
February 2008
Last year, I joined the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) as an Allied Health Member. I was impressed with the quality and clinically relevant information in the CHEST journal articles (and that I can access CHEST online). The cost to join is also very reasonable.
I had the pleasure of attending my first annual CHEST meeting in October 2007. I enjoyed networking with physicians and others from the allied health-care fields from around the country: sharing ideas, clinical practices, and a variety of other information. I was amazed at how many people were there from such a wide range of destinations. The workshops and talks were informative and interesting. The vendor area was well laid out and offered new products, and relevant information. I loved the walk-through displays on a variety of clinical complications and illnesses. I also happened to be one of the lucky winners of an i-pod shuffle.
I would encourage any respiratory therapist, nurse, or other allied health professionals to join the ACCP, to enhance their continuing education opportunities, and to develop a broader view of clinical practices in their chosen field.
