Welcome to the Cardiovascular Medicine and Surgery (CVMS) NetWork.
Reorganized in 2005 to include cardiac surgeons among its members and leadership, CVMS is committed to providing state-of-the-art, evidence-based education on the prevention, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of cardiovascular aspects of critical illness; perioperative care of cardiac surgical patients; and unique management issues for the critically ill cardiac patient. We provide expert reviews of evidence-based guidelines and consensus statements from ACCP (and outside organizations for ACCP endorsement), and form writing groups for reviews and other scholarly publications. With the launch of this new Web page, the NetWork will add monthly "hot off the presses" reviews of major cardiovascular studies as concise summaries for interested members.
Cardiology and cardiac surgery are critical disciplines in the comprehensive care of the seriously ill, and we are committed to furthering high quality, patient-centered care through our education efforts. We need your help in this endeavor. The CVMS leadership encourages NetWork members to submit ideas for projects and initiatives, other ACCP members to join CVMS as an opportunity for career growth, and nonmembers to consider membership in the College and our NetWork as an avenue to become involved and make a difference in quality health care, science, and education. Fellows-in-training, residents, and students in the cardiovascular disciplines are particularly welcome, as they are the future of our field.
Contact any of the CVMS NetWork leaders directly through the Steering Committee Web page or at networks@chestnet.org We look forward to hearing your ideas and working with you.
