How Can I Get Involved?

The ACCP Home Care NetWork will draw on its membership expertise to evolve as the national center for information about home care and other long-term care, as it relates to cardiopulmonary disorders and other related diseases of the chest.

• It will collect, expand, and disseminate a body of knowledge that will bring its members an understanding of the practical aspects of home care.
• Educational offerings will raise home care clinical and management issues of value to specialists and generalists, and to community and hospital-based physicians and surgeons.
  
• NetWork members will represent the ACCP at national initiatives in the generation of practice parameters and continuous quality improvement processes, and serve as the resource for the development of policies, practices, and procedures.
  
• The NetWork will maintain liaisons with other professional and trade associations to increase its outreach to non-ACCP members and participate in activities of national importance that are of interest to home care physicians, in general.

NetWork Goals

1. To provide NetWork members with access to information and mechanisms for dialogue about medical, financial, organizational, and educational research about home care, as it relates to cardiopulmonary conditions and related diseases of the chest.
2. To enhance members’ and fellows’ understanding about the clinical aspects of home care, so as to encourage them to integrate home care into their current clinical practice.
3. To serve the ACCP as the resource for state-of-the-art home care by participation in activities within the College and by representation of the College when home care expertise is required or requested.

We invite you to become involved in this exciting and rewarding NetWork, and contribute to the work of the ACCP. Getting involved in the NetWork is easy! Any of our steering committee members would be happy to discuss the goals of the NetWork and the role you could play in its success. You can participate by attending our NetWork meeting during the annual CHEST meeting in October. Is CHEST too far away? Members can contribute to the annual CHEST meetings by submitting and participating in presentations that enhance the evidence base and quality of care of the chronically critically ill. For the benefit of health-care professionals, caregivers, and patients, we strive to initiate and support projects aimed at improving knowledge and patient care. Do you have a new idea for a project? The Home Care NetWork is always looking for, and is very supportive of, new NetWork project proposals.
