This case series of 38 mothers caring for ventilator-assisted children found that most
experienced depressive mood symptoms. While a perceived negative impact of the child's illness predicted depression, good social support systems were associated with an absence of depression. Another contribution to the growing body of literature documenting the impact of chronic in-home care on caregivers.
