Palliative and End-of-Life Care NetWork
Objectives
The objectives of the Palliative and End-of-Life Care NetWork include:
- Promote quality care that will relieve patients' suffering, including the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual dimensions
- Recognize and provide support for cultural and spiritual diversity in the dying process and in end-of-life care
- Assure comfort, dignity, and support for patients with terminal and life-limiting illnesses, including bereavement services for their families
- Recognize the multidisciplinary nature of palliative care and promote teamwork in the care of patients and families
- Motivate healthcare professionals to achieve excellence in quality palliative and end-of-life care
- Acknowledge and provide support for grieving and stress in healthcare professionals related to providing care for dying patients and their families
- Conduct and promote quality improvement efforts to enhance the quality of palliative care and end-of-life care for patients and families with a focus on patients with cardiopulmonary diseases
- Conduct and promote research designed to improve the quality of palliative care and end-of-life care received by patients and families with a focus on patients with cardiopulmonary diseases
- Advocate institutional, professional, and regulatory policies to assure quality palliative and end-of-life care.
