Mission Statement
To promote the prevention and treatment of diseases of the chest through:
- Increased understanding of pulmonary physiology and function and incorporation of that understanding in clinical practice
- Enhanced understanding, acceptance, and clinical excellence in pulmonary rehabilitation
- Leadership, education, evaluation, research, effective communication, and advocacy in these areas
NetWork Goals and Objectives
The Pulmonary Physiology, Function, and Rehabilitation NetWork will work to advance our mission by:
- Enabling the practicing clinician to better understand pulmonary physiology and function, and incorporate this understanding into clinical practice
- Improving understanding and acceptance of the principles of pulmonary rehabilitation in clinical practice
- Developing and promoting clinical excellence in rehabilitation programs
- Promoting leadership, education, evaluation, research, and effective communication
- Encouraging active involvement of ACCP affiliates, members, and fellows in network activities
- Serving as a respected and valued resource for all ACCP affiliates, members, and fellows regarding issues in pulmonary physiology, function, and rehabilitation, regardless of NetWork affiliation
- Fostering development and acceptance of appropriate guidelines
- Advocating on behalf of the pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation community for issues that affect clinical practice, research, and education in these disciplines
- Working together with all ACCP NetWorks and others to achieve these goals
