How to Manage Asthma – Demonstration and Instruction

Asthma is a chronic disease with symptoms that can change from day to day. Many asthma patients get used to having symptoms and do not realize that their asthma CAN be controlled. The following information will help you determine if your asthma is under control. It will also help you determine if you have learned what you need to know about asthma, your medications, and treatment options.

This information is provided by the Chicago Asthma Consortium, a group of over 300 health professionals, patients, lay persons and pharma-ceutical representatives dedicated to fighting asthma in Chicago.

The Chicago Asthma Consortium is a collaborative community project of the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago and the American College of Chest Physicians and is fund-ed by the Otho S. A. Sprague Memorial Institute.

This self-evaluation is based on Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Asthma: The Expert Panel 2, National Asthma Education and Prevention Program, 1997 revision.
