How to Manage Asthma: Demonstration and Instruction

You may need to use inhalers or other devices to manage your asthma. Check below if your health care professional did NOT demonstrate the following or if you need any additional information. Bring the list with you to your next visit.

• The proper use and cleaning of aerosol delivery devices and accessories (holding chambers or spacers) including:
  • Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs) and accessory devices
  • Nebulizers and compressors
  • Dry powder inhalers
• The proper use of a peak flow meter and symptom diary.
• How to determine your best peak flow and if you need to adjust your medications.
