Mission and Goals

A simple and direct statement of mission and goals is an effective way of communicating both to coalition members and to the community the direction the coalition is heading. The statement of the Minnesota Asthma Coalition is one that can helpfully serve as a model for a coalition searching to express the direction in which it is heading.

MINNESOTA ASTHMA COALITION

The Minnesota Asthma Coalition is being developed by the American Lung Association of Minnesota to provide a forum for information exchange among all members of the circle of care for people interested in asthma and to begin examining the various problems associated with asthma from a systematic perspective.

The Minnesota Asthma Coalition will impact asthma by:

• Influencing health policies through advocacy
• Improving public and professional systems to respond to asthma
• Catalyzing improved service delivery
• Ensuring uniform high quality of care
• Being an inclusive member organization dedicated to improving asthma care

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Minnesota Asthma Association is to reduce morbidity and mortality and enhance the quality of life for people with asthma.

COALITION GOALS

1. To promote awareness, prevention, and culturally sensitive education.
2. To ensure access to care and state-of-the-art treatment.
3. To provide monitoring, analysis, and dissemination of information.
