Work with expert faculty to review the cognitive base of advanced critical care echocardiography (ACCE) that is relevant to the upcoming National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) Examination of Special Competence in Critical Care Echocardiography (CCEeXAM). The board review course is specifically designed for learners who are scheduled to take the examination and will focus on refining mastery of image interpretation, clinical applications, and the knowledge base of ACCE.

  • M-mode, 2D, and Doppler Physics
  • Measurement of Stroke Volume/Cardiac Output (SV/CO)
  • Assessment of Left Ventricular (LV) and Right Ventricular (RV) Function
  • Measurement of Filling Pressures and Diastolic Function
  • Evaluation of Valve Function
  • Determination of Preload Sensitivity
  • Measurement of Intracardiac Pressures and Flows
  • Evaluation of Heart-Lung Interactions
  • Evaluation of Pericardial Disease
  • Evaluation of Catheters and Devices
  • Relevant Components—Whole Body Ultrasonography

This course has 14 digital learning modules which include 150 interactive questions. The course will also have six live, complex, case-based discussions, challenging the learner with more than 50 polling questions, rationales, and ample time for a question-and-answer period with expert faculty who have passed the exam. In addition, there will be a 50-question practice exam provided at the end of the course. The goal of this course is to best prepare the learner for the upcoming challenge of the NBE CCEeXAM.

If you are unable to attend the live, complex, case-based discussions, recordings will be made available in our learning management system for all registered learners.

Prerequisites

This course is designed for learners who are well advanced in their study of ACCE and who are sitting for the NBE ACCE certification exam. The December board review would be productively combined with the June course for the serious candidate of the NBE CCEeXAM.

Physician Credit

CHEST is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CHEST designates this live activity for a maximum of 26.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME credit hours are subject to change. Final CME credit hours will be provided on-site.

Nursing Credit

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 16433, for 26.5 contact hours.

Nurse Practitioners

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME. Individuals are responsible for checking with the AANPCB for further guidelines.

Physician Assistants

American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 26.5 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

Maintenance of Certification Statement

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn up to 26.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC points.

Upon successful completion of this course, CHEST will submit your completion data to ABIM via ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) for MOC points. Please allow 5-7 business days after claiming for credits to be posted to your ABIM record.

After you register for the course, you will receive an email with details about completing the course pretest and accessing course materials (made available 10 to 14 days prior to the course start). Data collected on your performance with assessments will be available through our site.

Laptops or tablet computers are required for the course. The general session room will be equipped with wireless internet access and power for personal electronics.
