CHEST Foundation NetWorks Challenge 2016: Which NetWork will champion lung health?

CHEST 2016 is right around the corner, and the foundation wants to bring you up to date on this year’s NetWorks Challenge. Since the challenge launched in March, we have had tremendous participation and support. With three rounds total, Round One complete, and Round Two in progress, there’s still time to get your NetWork steering committee to the top!

Round One of NetWorks Challenge 2016 was won by the two participants who had the highest percentage of participation by NetWork Steering Committee. The winners, Women’s Health NetWork and Occupational and Environmental Health NetWork, will receive 90 minutes additional time at CHEST 2016 . The two winning NetWorks were also able to nominate two of their members to receive a CHEST Foundation Travel Grant.  The recipients of these travel grants are Drew Harris, MD, and Kerry Henna, MD, of the Occupational and Environmental Health NetWork; and Amanpreet Kaur, MD, and Deb Banerjee, MD, of the Women’s Health NetWork.

Drew Harris, MD, shared his excitement about the opportunities he’s been awarded, “I am honored to receive the NetWorks Challenge Grant to attend CHEST 2016. As I finish fellowship and start an academic research career focused on addressing respiratory health disparities, I am excited to be attending CHEST 2016 so that I can learn from and collaborate with like-minded pulmonologists from around the country”.

In Round Two,  the winners will be determined by the total amount contributed by the NetWork. The CHEST Foundation is offering a bonus incentive for Round Two and will match funds raised by the two winning NetWorks that meet a minimum of $15,000 and up to $25,000 for a clinical research grant. The winners of Round Two will receive one seat on the CHEST Foundation Awards Committee for the following year. Round Two winners will be announced at Opening Session on Monday, October 24, at 8:45 am.

The third and final round of the NetWorks Challenge focuses on the highest percentage of participation by a NetWork’s membership. The two winning NetWorks will receive travel grants to CHEST 2017 and four winning NetWorks will receive free CHEST membership for 2017. The winners of Round Three will be announced after CHEST 2016.
