Take the steps to become an advocate for infants at risk of contracting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Review the most medically relevant information regarding assessment and identification of infant risk factors for severe RSV, guidelines for RSV prophylaxis, and patient assistance programs.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for RSV prophylaxis and limitations to the guidelines.
- Identify key risk factors that make infants vulnerable to severe RSV.
- Discuss the information that is most valuable to medical directors of health-care plans to help them assess risk for individual patients.
- Identify available patient assistance programs to assist with access to RSV prophylaxis.
