Walk through patient scenario cases designed to equip pulmonologists, primary care clinicians, and advanced practice providers with the tools for early detection, diagnosis, management, and collaboration in the care of patients with nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) pulmonary disease and related bronchiectasis (B).

Objectives:

  1. Define nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease and bronchiectasis (NTM-B), and differentiate it from other causes.
  2. Recognize key clinical features, radiologic findings (eg, high-resolution CT scan patterns), and microbiologic criteria associated with NTM-B.
  3. Apply evidence-based diagnostic criteria for NTM pulmonary disease.
  4. Initiate appropriate first-line therapy, including multidrug treatment regimens for Mycobacterium avium complex and other NTM species based on evidence-based guidelines.
