CHEST Journal Portfolio Expanding in 2023

CHEST is excited to announce the launch of two new journals: CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary. With these new titles, CHEST aims to provide a home for unique clinical content of importance to our readers and more avenues for our authors to publish their work, leading to more diverse content and faster publication times.

This expansion of the journal CHEST® portfolio comes after an unprecedented time for the flagship journal, when a surge in COVID content and increased clinical duties among authors and readers forced the journal to quickly pivot—during the past 2 years, CHEST journal fast-tracked more articles, created more complementary research summaries, and made more content freely available than ever before in the journal’s history. Authors and readers alike have responded positively to these changes, with submissions reaching historic levels and the journal’s website seeing more than 7.9 million downloads in 2021 alone. The addition of CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary increases the journal’s capacity for continuing to meet the needs of authors and readers by quickly publishing timely, relevant, and accessible content.

What to expect from the journals

CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary will complement the CHEST flagship journal, providing specialized and unique content in the fields of critical care, pulmonary, and sleep medicine. Topics of interest will include medical decision making, disaster medicine, post-ICU care, and more.

Additionally, as open access journals, the new titles will ensure research findings are free and available to all, fostering scientific debate, discussion, and advancement among the chest medicine community.

Similar to the flagship journal, CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary will accept original research, reviews, case series, commentaries, and other article types. The journals will begin accepting submissions fall 2022.
