Where do you work?
University of Alabama at Birmingham.

What are your research interests, and how does this apply to your position within the Networks?
My area of excellence is in clinical and translational research in the field of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and other interstitial lung diseases (ILD). I also have a specific interest in promoting education for early diagnosis and quality treatment of patients with ILD. These interests have been crucial to my position within the Network and have led me to contribute to the development of educational games and programming for the annual meeting curriculum.

How did you become interested and involved in the Diffuse Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Network?
I initially got involved with this Network as a fellow-in-training, which allowed me to work with several mentors in the Network. I was able to contribute to multiple Network activities, and I have subsequently served as a member and now am the Vice-Chair of the Interstitial Lung Disease Section.

Are you involved in any other activities or volunteer positions at CHEST?
I am a steering committee member for Bridging Specialties™: Timely Diagnosis for ILD, which is a collaborative initiative launched by CHEST and Three Lakes Foundation.

What clinical research is most interesting to you right now?
I find the area of biomarker development, particularly imaging-based biomarkers in ILD, fascinating.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy hiking and painting.

What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Some good spicy food ☺

Is there anything else you'd like to share with your Network peers?
Membership within a Network, especially within the leadership, can be instrumental in career growth. I would encourage those interested in discussing opportunities to reach out to the Network leadership.
