NBC films Chicago P.D. at CHEST Global Headquarters

A command center sat in the parking lot flanked by familiar-looking police cars and barriers. It looked like an emergency in the heart of Glenview, but why had the Chicago police ventured so far from their jurisdiction?

CHEST Global Headquarters might be best known for its educationally focused space—six simulation ICU suites, simulation equipment, auditorium, training rooms, wet and dry labs, and state-of-the-art technology for holding medical education events.  But for a few days last November it served as the settling for a television show, not because of its functionality but because of its stunning look.

In October, a location scout for the NBC television show, Chicago P.D., approached CHEST. The show was in need of a medical office as a filming location and the Chicago P.D. team spotted CHEST Global Headquarters while out scouting locations. After a tour of the training center and offices, the decision was made to film in the building, and on November 5, hundreds of crew members and actors arrived at our door and transformed the office in to a bustling set.

The filming took place in our CEO’s office, a conference room, our hallways, lobby, building exterior, and even a storage room! The crew and craft services employed our auditorium as a staging area for meals, our parking lot for the many equipment trucks, and several common areas for equipment and workspace.

Here are a few behind the scenes shots from the episode, which aired January 6. View the complete episode online now.

The CHEST space can accommodate a variety of meetings and events—even a TV set! For more information about our space, contact Jeanne Schaschwary.
