Where do you work?
UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program, Clinical Professor of Medicine, and Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program at UCSF Fresno.

What are your research interests, and how does this apply to your position within the Networks?
My clinical and research focus is pulmonary vascular disease and interstitial lung disease. I am the Founder and Director of the UCSF Fresno Pulmonary Hypertension Program, which was nationally accredited as a PHCCC in 2017. Initially, I served as a member in the Pulmonary Vascular Disease NetWork and served as Vice-Chair for that NetWork over the last 2 years. I am excited about the opportunity to work with our Pulmonary Vascular Disease Section members in the Pulmonary Vascular and Cardiovascular Network this coming year.

How did you become interested and involved in the Pulmonary Vascular and Cardiovascular Network?
Mainly inspired by pulmonary vascular colleagues and friends in the field.

Are you involved in any other activities or volunteer positions at CHEST?
No.

What clinical research is most interesting to you right now?
Several. Specifically, research directed at the following topics:

  • Early diagnosis of pulmonary arterial hypertension—biomarkers, imaging, and education
  • Proactive treatment strategies that may favorably alter the course of the disease
  • Disease-modifying therapeutic interventions

What are your hobbies?
I am an avid tennis and cricket player, but I also enjoy pickleball and table tennis, music, and karaoke singing.

What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Sports and lighthearted moments along with some light vino.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Network peers?
I look forward to meeting everyone in person at CHEST 2022 in Nashville, TN, to generate plenty of those lighthearted moments. I am eager to work with everyone on many projects in the upcoming 2 years. I welcome any ideas and suggestions.
