Where do you work?
I am a Professor of Medicine at Yale University.

What are your research interests?
My research focus has been in ICU delirium, sleep in the ICU, and examining outcomes in older ICU patients.

How did you become interested and involved in CHEST’s Networks?
I became involved in CHEST as a pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine fellow when I first presented my research at the annual meeting. From there, I became a member of the Critical Care NetWork and the Women’s Lung Health NetWork.

Are you involved in any other activities or volunteer positions at CHEST?
I have been very active in CHEST over the years. Some of my favorite activities have been the community outreach programs at the national meeting, chairing the Scientific Program Committee where we review abstracts and plan the original research sessions, and being a member of the Social Media Work Group.

What clinical research is most interesting to you right now?
I am interested in sleep and circadian biology and how it impacts outcomes in critical illness. I am also interested in the impact of sex and gender on diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes for patients with pulmonary disease and critical illness.

What are your hobbies?
I love to ride my Peloton and am part of a female team that rides together. I also enjoy doing yoga and pilates. Cooking is my stress reliever at the end of the day.

What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
This is a tough one. I can probably live without everything, but if I have to choose something, I would say books and maybe chocolate or peanut butter. 😀

Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Network peers?
CHEST has wonderful members who are welcoming, and the staff is supportive and there to help you get involved.
