Read through a Q&A with one of the CHEST Network leaders, Carolyn D’Ambrosio, MD, FCCP, Sleep Medicine Network Chair.

August 25, 2022

Where do you work?
Yale School of Medicine.

What are your research interests and how does this apply to your position within the Networks?
I do research in sleep and breathing and sex and gender in sleep disorders. Both of my Network affiliations, on the Sleep Medicine Network and the former Women’s Lung Health NetWork, have contributed greatly to my ability to collaborate with others.

How did you become interested and involved in the Sleep Medicine Network?
Many years ago, I went to the Network mixer just to see what it was about. Once there, I met with Dave Schulman and Aneesa Das. I became more involved and joined the steering committee when both Dave and Aneesa were Chairs. This led to my being asked to work on CHEST SEEK™ for sleep medicine and joining the CHEST Sleep Medicine Board Review, of which I am now Chair.

Are you involved in any other activities or volunteer positions at CHEST?
Yes, I am the current Chair of CHEST's Women in Chest Medicine Interest Group and on the Board of Trustees for the CHEST Foundation.

What clinical research is most interesting to you right now?
I am still working on sleep disorders and the effects of sex and gender on the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of these.

What are your hobbies?
Downhill skiing and rescuing dogs.

What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
My dogs!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Network peers?
Get involved! You will build a great community of colleagues from across the country by volunteering in CHEST!
