Where do you work?
I am the Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, at the Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA.
What are your research interests and how does this apply to your position within the Networks?
My research interest is primarily focused on cancer treatment complication, especially drug-induced pneumonitis. I serve as co-investigator on new drug trials for cancer treatment with potential for pulmonary complications. I am also involved in medical education outcomes research in the field of interprofessional education.
How did you become interested and involved in the Thoracic Oncology and Chest Procedures Network?
It is my pleasure and a privilege to be part of the Thoracic Oncology and Chest Procedures Network given my keen interest in this section of pulmonary medicine. I am looking forward to collaborating with my esteemed colleagues in advancing the goals and objectives of this Network. In the past, I have served on the Thoracic Oncology NetWork Pilot Subcommittee on “KOL podcast,” been a member of the Clinical Pulmonary Medicine NetWork, and Vice-Chair of the Interprofessional Team NetWork. I am thankful to CHEST for this great opportunity!
Are you involved in any other activities or volunteer positions at CHEST?
Yes! I serve as an active member of the Educator Development Subcommittee. I also was a member of the Interprofessional NetWork and Practice Operations NetWork. I was a reviewer for CHEST Foundation COPD Grants in 2021 and 2022.
What clinical research is most interesting to you right now?
My clinical interests pertain to collaborating with thoracic oncology colleagues on new drug trials for cancer treatments associated with risk of drug-induced pneumonitis.
What are your hobbies?
Travelling, hiking, yoga, and listening to classic rock music.
What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
My professional work, which keeps me active, alive, and useful in so many ways to the community.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Network peers?
I am excited and happy to be serving with all the esteemed colleagues in the Pleural Disease Section. I am looking forward to learning and collaborating with all of you!
