Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m an adult pulmonologist in academic practice at the University of Rochester in New York. I’m a professor of medicine and the director of the Mary Parkes Center for Asthma, Allergy and Pulmonary Care. My clinical and research focus is severe asthma, particularly advanced therapies in severe asthma.

My involvement with CHEST spans many years—almost 2 decades. I am currently the Vice-Chair for the CHEST Pulmonary Medicine Board Review 2023 course, a member of the Education Committee, a CHEST regent-at-large, and past chair of the Airways Disorders NetWork.

What is your teaching philosophy for Board Review courses?

I’m really looking forward to an in-person course this year. I believe that learner-oriented teaching promotes engagement and knowledge that is enduring. My goal is to keep the course interactive to the greatest extent possible with ample time for attendees to interact with faculty and have their questions answered.

What are you most excited about for board review this year?

The CHEST Board Review courses during COVID-19 were virtual with a mix of recorded and live sessions. There really wasn’t any direct interaction with the learners. So, I’m most excited this year to be in person to see my colleagues, other faculty, and the course attendees.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself or a favorite hobby?

I love to travel and I'm a foodie. Those are really my favorite things to do.

Join Dr. Khurana at the live Pulmonary Medicine Board Review course, August 16 to 19.
