5 Health-care Hashtags You Should Be Following Right Now

Looking for the very latest in your area of expertise? Want to be in the loop on the newest information from around the world? Look no further than the bustling Twitter community for the latest and greatest. Here are five hashtags you should be following today.

#pulmCC So, I might be slightly biased because we’ve formed our Twitter chats around this hashtag and have championed it shamelessly, but our blossoming community of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine clinicians is engaged, informative, and exciting. We have regular Twitter chats and our community shares resources almost hourly.

#meded Interested in medical education? Improving quality? You’ll find an active community of thought leaders discussing the latest in medical education under this hashtag. It’s also a nice resource for getting a pulse on emerging trends and to engage with the medical community at large, as there is a great deal of crossover in specialties and interests.

#smaccUS A small and mighty group of social media-minded critical care clinicians have grouped together under this hashtag after a very popular and well-attended smaccGOLD conference in Australia last year. We’re excited to hear they’ll be in the backyard of CHEST this coming year for smaccUS in Chicago. In the meantime, find out what the fuss is all about and join in the conversation.

#lcsm Founded by Deana Hendrickson, a lung cancer advocate, and H. Jack West, oncologist, this hashtag has taken on a life of its own over the past year. The group holds weekly chats ranging from lung cancer screening, genomics in lung cancer, to finding lung cancer support groups. The community is vivid, lively, and a nice silver lining in the world of lung cancer.

#CHEST2014 CHEST is still a few months away, but the great news is that we’re already chatting! Don’t wait until October to join in. Following CHEST and the hashtag on Twitter is your insider’s look at CHEST 2014.
