The Trainee Track: Your Guide to CHEST 2024

Welcome to the Trainee Track, the fellows’ guide to the CHEST Annual Meeting 2024.

Visit the CHEST blog and CHEST Daily News to read insights from your leaders, colleagues, and other trainee attendees, and start researching sessions and planning your schedule via the online schedule. We also highly encourage you to download the CHEST Events app on your mobile phone to ensure you know where you’re headed in Boston.

The Trainee Focus track in the overall meeting program will help early career physicians like you identify the sessions relevant to your interests and experiences. This curated list of sessions was created by trainee leaders in CHEST’s Trainee Work Group as a guide for peers who may be navigating a large conference schedule for the first time.

Trainee Lounge—a space just for you

Come mingle with your fellow trainees and CHEST leaders in the Trainee Lounge, Room 252AB in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The lounge is open:

Sunday, October 6: 8 am – 5 pm
Monday, October 7: 8 am – 5:30 pm
Tuesday, October 8: 8 am – 5 pm
Wednesday, October 9: 8 am – 12 pm

There’s so much happening during CHEST 2024. These are some of the highlights to add to your schedule.

Opening Session and Keynote Address

Sunday, October 6 | 8 am – 9:30 am ET

Vanessa Kerry, MD, MSc—a critical care physician, Director of the Program in Global Public Policy at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and World Health Organization Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health—will speak on the effects of climate change on human health and health systems. Don't miss this important lecture!

CHEST Challenge Championship

Tuesday, October 8 | 8 pm – 9:15 pm ET

Don’t miss one of the most popular and exciting events at every annual meeting, the CHEST Challenge Championship. Join us to cheer on 3 teams of fellows-in-training who will battle it out in a lively, Jeopardy-style test of their clinical knowledge that rivals even board review examinations.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

Several only-at-CHEST educational gaming experiences are happening in the Exhibit Hall throughout the meeting, from escape rooms to virtual reality to live game breaks.

Live Case Reports

CHEST 2025 takes place in Chicago, October 19 to 22, 2025
Gather at CHEST 2025 to connect with the chest medicine community for inspiring education in the Windy City. Don’t miss these exciting opportunities to share your knowledge and be part of this can’t-miss event!

Submit a session idea for CHEST 2025. Submissions will open in mid-September and will close December 4 at 2 pm CT.
Submit an abstract or case report. Submissions will open in mid-December.
Join the many teams that participate in CHEST Challenge. Online play for 2025 will begin in spring 2025.
