What led you to join your Interest Group and become a Steering Committee member?
I want to provide the respiratory therapist perspective to the larger group at CHEST. I have always been a big advocate for strengthening the interdisciplinary team. My hope is that this work improves collaboration across the patient care continuum.

How does this Interest Group enhance your experience as a CHEST member?
This is my first year in the group, and I am excited to gain different perspectives and challenge my own practice.

Who or what has inspired you in your journey in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine?
My younger sister has cystic fibrosis, and I have seen how a strong team and incremental clinical improvements can change lives. Seeing this positive impact helped me decide to join the respiratory therapy profession. Early in my career, I had a mentor who helped reinforce the importance of patient-centered care, evidence-based medicine, and lifelong learning. Ultimately, I pursued a Master of Health Informatics from Northwestern University to strengthen my understanding of data-driven care.

What activities or hobbies do you enjoy that might surprise your colleagues?
I am an avid downhill skier! My wife taught me how to ski in my early 20's, and I was hooked. We even got married in the winter as an excuse to honeymoon on the slopes!

What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Cooking for friends and family. My grandmother taught me a lot of our traditional family recipies and that it is best to share a meal with good company. I love exploring new techniques, tools, and ingredients. My favorite thing to cook is barbecuing a brisket over charcoal.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Interest Group peers?
I feel very privileged to work in such a dynamic profession and be able to share my knowledge with others.
