CHEST® Critical Care Added to Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index
January 30, 2026
Glenview, Illinois – The American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) announced that CHEST® Critical Care was accepted for inclusion in the Web of Science Core Collection through the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). Indexing in Web of Science marks an important milestone for the journal and further strengthens its visibility and discoverability for clinicians, researchers, and health care teams worldwide. With this indexation, CHEST Critical Care will receive its first Impact Factor for 2025 in mid-2026.
The Web of Science Core Collection is a widely recognized platform for scholarly research discovery and citation tracking. Inclusion in ESCI increases access to the high-quality research published in CHEST Critical Care and supports the journal’s ongoing commitment to advancing the science and practice of critical care medicine.
“Being indexed in Web of Science is a significant step for CHEST Critical Care,” said Hayley Gershengorn, MD, FCCP, Editor in Chief of CHEST Critical Care. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our authors, reviewers, and editorial team to publishing rigorous, clinically meaningful content that informs and improves patient care in the ICU and beyond. We are proud to expand the reach of the important work shared through this journal.”
This achievement builds on the journal’s growing momentum in global indexing and research visibility. In April 2025, CHEST Critical Care also received indexation in Scopus, one of the world’s largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature.
“The addition of Web of Science indexing, following Scopus indexation, reinforces CHEST Critical Care’s role as an essential resource for the critical care community,” said Peter Mazzone, MD, FCCP, Editor in Chief of the journal CHEST® portfolio. “Through this publication and our entire family of journals, we remain committed to delivering timely, trusted, and impactful content to help clinicians and researchers address the most urgent challenges in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.”
