CHEST Receives Glenview Environmental Sustainability Award for Innovation
January 21, 2026
Glenview, Illinois – The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) was named a recipient of the 2025 Glenview Environmental Sustainability Award in the Innovation category, recognizing the organization’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while advancing lung health.
CHEST was honored for its 2025 investment in solar panel installation at its Glenview, Illinois, headquarters. This initiative helps power the facility’s operations using renewable energy, including a state-of-the-art medical simulation facility.
“Lung health begins with the air we breathe, and clean energy is part of building healthier communities,” said Robert A. Musacchio, PhD, CEO of CHEST. “Receiving Glenview’s Environmental Sustainability Award for Innovation is an honor, and it affirms our commitment to reducing emissions, improving air quality, and living our mission through meaningful, values-driven action.”
The Village of Glenview’s Environment & Natural Resources Commission sponsors the Environmental Sustainability Awards program to recognize organizations that demonstrate environmental stewardship, innovative best practices, and community outreach.
CHEST’s solar installation builds on the organization’s long-standing efforts to reduce its environmental impact. CHEST’s headquarters earned LEED® Silver certification in 2014, and the addition of the solar panels and a new charging station for electric cars strengthens that foundation by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and supporting a healthier future for the Glenview community and beyond.
By investing in solar energy, CHEST continues to live out its social responsibility values: advancing lung health, reducing its environmental footprint, and contributing to healthier communities for generations to come.
