The Education Subcommittees are intended to explore and support the educational objectives and strategic initiatives led by the Education Committee. The Education Subcommittees report to the Education Committee.
Educator Development Subcommittee
- Oversee, develop and manage CHEST educator faculty development programs.
- Maintain educator faculty development curriculum.
- Solicit members to enroll in educator faculty development programs.
- Select CHEST Early Career Educator and Master Educator award recipients.
- Monitor the CHEST Educator designation (DCE) and program.
- Improve interdisciplinary offerings.
- Develop ongoing Educator Development Track.
- Evaluates course directors/chairs and faculty using established criteria and provide feedback directly.

Innovations Subcommittee
- Serve as a resource to individuals and groups with new course and product ideas. Once introduced, this group vets such applications and submits to the EC for final approval and implementation.
- Conduct ongoing gap analysis.
- Provide feedback for potential proposals and needs assessments for new activities that meet defined educational need.
- Review new activity proposals, through the prioritization tool process, and provide written feedback.
- Provides peer review of the content of any newly-developed activities and provide feedback to course/chairs/faculty.

Live Learning Subcommittee
- Oversees the development of content for courses and activities across key domains across key Domain Task Forces.
- Evaluate live learning programs on an annual basis.
- Propose annual slate of courses to full Education Committee based on performance, need, and alignment with other organizational initiatives.
- Propose appropriate key performance indicators and goals to maintain and improve the quality and reach of procedural programs.
- Identify and incorporate evaluation tools (e.g., faculty debrief forms) to ensure the continuous improvement of supported programs.
- Debriefs on all activities and identify emerging gaps and needs from program outcomes and learner feedback.
- Support faculty recruitment and development efforts.

Outcomes Subcommittee
- Conduct ongoing program evaluation, reviewing recurring activity outcomes and disseminating feedback.
- Facilitate debrief with course directors/chairs after an activity.
- Utilize program scorecard to identify activities for discontinuing or adapted for content or format.
- Facilitate the dissemination of key outcomes data through publication, marketing, social media, and other means.
- Strive to develop mechanisms to assess the impact of educational interventions on clinical practice and ultimately patient outcomes.

Patient Education Subcommittee
- Partner with other patient-centered organizations to identify and execute patient education materials and seeks to distribute education through multichannel programs and disease awareness campaigns that establish leadership and excellence in the area of patient education.
- Establish a clear, focused, and current strategy for patient education content development and dissemination.
- Identify CHEST members and other subject matter experts (SMEs) to potentially review new and updated materials.
- Collaborate with CHEST Education Subcommittees, CHEST Networks, trainees, and other key committees to ensure patient education is interwoven into other priorities, programs, and projects.

International Education Work Group
- Oversees the design and development of continuing medical education curriculum related to CHEST-branded international programs.
