ABIM updates longitudinal pathway rollout schedule for MOC assessment options

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) announced an update to the rollout plan for the new longitudinal pathway that will provide at least two assessment options to complete Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements.

While most programs will roll out in 2022, Critical Care Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease and Pulmonary Disease will launch in 2023 to allow more time to create the requisite content. This delay is in response to the impact COVID-19 has had on the content development schedule for these specialties.

ABIM will offer the Knowledge Check-In option in all four of these disciplines through 2021 to provide a transition pathway to 2023. ABIM announced earlier this year that the deadline for completing MOC requirements for 2020 is extended until December 31, 2021.
