CHEST Kicks Off Annual NetWorks Challenge
April 18, 2017
Glenview, IL —The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) launched its annual NetWorks Challenge today. The annual fundraiser helps to obtain funding for clinical research grants, patient education and community service produced by the CHEST Foundation.
NetWorks are special interest groups within CHEST membership that focus on particular areas of chest medicine. Members of the NetWorks are connected to other professionals who share similar interests, assist in educational sessions, take on leadership roles and participate in the development of policies, opinions and position statements for the interest groups.
The six-month long event is broken into three rounds that offer different prizes to the leading winning NetWorks in each round.
In the first round, which runs through June 30, proceeds fund the travel grants program that brings young professionals to the CHEST Annual Meeting, which will be held in Toronto this year. The second round lasts until the CHEST Annual Meeting, and all proceeds help to fund two new community service initiatives. These community service initiatives are chosen and created by the two winning NetWorks teams. The third round, which runs during the CHEST Annual Meeting, Oct. 28 until Nov. 1, helps to fund two new patient education guides. The topics of the guides will be chosen by the two winning NetWorks.
CHEST and the CHEST Foundation hope to increase the record of $125,000 that was raised in 2016.
